Tutorial #7 - The Tacticsboard user interface

The Tacticsboard application interface comprises of several elements to give you a simple point and click user experience, so you will be pleased to know that
there are absolutely no dropdown menus you need to navigate through to use all the features this solution has to offer.

We have used the club Tacticsboard with author access for the purpose of this tutorial because authors get the full interface unlike viewer users who get a
cut down interface (which we discuss later in this tutorial)

The image below shows the Tacticsboard application along with the elements mentioned earlier.

Function Buttons
The function buttons are used to carry out certain functions within the Tacticsboard application.



Going from left to right, you have:
New - Prepares the Tacticsboard for a new presentation (This wipes everything currently shown on the Tacticsboard)
Load - Load presentation file (Loads a previously saved presentation file from your board library)
Save - Save presentation (Saves the current Tacticsboard canvas, notes, audio and video to a presentation file in your board library)
Load Canvas - Loads a canvas image onto the Tacticsboard.
Export Screenshot - Exports the current state of the Tacticsboard canvas to your local machine, facebook or convert to canvas.
Chat - Opens the chat dialogue window so you can text message whoever is connected to your Tacticsboard.
Grid - Places a grid over the Tacticsboard canvas.
Print - Prints the current state of the Tacticsboard canvas.
Support - Opens the support forum.
Upload Manager - Opens the upload manager so you can upload your own markers and canvas backgrounds to your Tacticsboard. [Only available with club license]
Clear - Clears all the items on the Tacticsboard canvas, but leaves the canvas background image in place.


Admin Controls
The admin controls are only shown if the connected user is the owner or an author. These controls allow the owner/author to run through their presentations
without anyone connected changing anything on the Tacticsboard canvas.



From left to right we have:
Draw On/Off - Enable/Disable everyone apart from the owner from drawing on the canvas in the current session.
Clear On/Off - Enable/Disable everyone apart from the owner from clearing the Tacticsboard canvas.
Load on/Off - Enable/Disable everyone apart from the owner from loading a save presentation onto the canvas.


Media Buttons
The media buttons are displayed when the owner/author adds coach notes, video or audio to a presentation file.



from left to right we have:
Coach Notes - This button brings up the coach's notes associated to a presentation file
Coach Video - This button loads up a video that has been attached to a presentation file
Coach Audio - This button loads up any audio that the owner/author has added to a presentation file


Current Presentation File
Display the currently opened presentation file being used on the Tacticsboard. (Note, if a new file is created then the filename will be called new until it has been saved to the Tacticsboard library)



the example above shows that we are creating a new presentation.


Coach Locker
The coach locker button is only shown if the connected user is the owner or an author. It opens the coach’s locker where the owner or the author can write
notes, attach a video or attach an audio to the current presentation file being used. (We have a full tutorial on using the coach locker)




Marker Menu Slider
The marker menu slider is used to slide the markers across so you can access the vast range of markers we have created for you specialised sport.




Marker Menu
The marker menu allows you to select a marker to place onto your Tacticsboard canvas. Simply drag the marker slider across from left to right to access all the available markers.



The image above shows that we have selected one of the markers to be places on the Tacticsboard canvas.


Drawing Tools
The drawing tools are used to draw certain items onto your Tacticsboard canvas.




Pen Tips
The pen tips menu allows you to change the thickness of the pen used with any of the drawing tools.




Tool Option Buttons
Depending on which tool you are currently using, the tool options appear here allowing you to further modify the tool currently set on the Tacticsboard canvas.

The image below shows the tool options that appear when the selector tool is used



From left to right we have:
Cut - Copies and deletes the current item or items selected on the Tacticsboard canvas
Copy - Copy the current item or items selected on the Tacticsboard canvas
Paste - Pastes a copy of the copied item or items onto the Tacticsboard canvas
Delete - Deletes the currently selected item or items on the Tacticsboard canvas. (You can also use the keyboard delete shortcut key as well)
Undo - Restores the last action

The image below shows the tool option menu that appears when any of the line tools are used:



The image above shows us creating a curved sprint line with a start and end arrow. (Notice how the three (3) line options, start arrow, end arrow and curved have turned green indicating they are enabled)

Each item can be turned on and off to create a combination of over 450 line types.

From left to right we have:
Start Arrow - Starts the currently used line tool with an arrow
End Arrow - Ends the currently used line tool with an arrow
Callout - Places a callout box with text in the middle of the line
Shadow - Creates a shadow of the current line tool being used
Curved - Creates a curved line using the current line tool being used
Transparent - Creates a transparent line using the current line tool being used.


Canvas Page Control
This menu is used to change the current page displayed on the Tacticsboard canvas.



From left to right we have:
Prev - Send the canvas back one (1) page
Start - Sends the canvas to page one (1)
Erase - Deletes the current page
Copy - Copies the current page and all its contents to a new page
New - Creates a new page with just the currently used background
End - Sends the canvas to the very last page
Next - Sends the canvas to the next page


Marker Controls
This menu appears when you use the selector tool and select a single marker item on the Tacticsboard canvas.



From left to right we have:
Rotate Left - Rotates the currently selected marker left (you can also use the (comma) , shortcut key to do this as well)
Rotate Right - Rotates the currently selected marker right (you can also use the (Full Stop) . shortcut key to do this as well)
Mirror - Mirrors the currently selected marker left and right (you can also use the m shortcut key to do this as well)
+ - Increases the size of the marker (you can also use the (Plus Sign) + shortcut key to do this as well)
- - Decreases the size of the marker (you can also use the (Minus Sign) - shortcut key to do this as well)


Pen Ink Menu
This menu is used to select a different colour for the tool being used. You can also bring up a colour palette to select a further 250 different colours.



Notice that we currently have black selected (by the ring indicator going silver)

From left to right we have:
Red - Changes the pen ink colour to red
Green - Changes the pen ink colour to green
White - Changes the pen ink colour to white
Blue - Changes the pen ink colour to blue
Purple - Changes the pen ink colour to purple
Yellow - Changes the pen ink colour to yellow
Black - Changes the pen ink colour to black (Default)
Palette - Bring up the palette window so you can select many more ink colours.
